Lemmy Kilmister the famed Frontman for Motorhead has passed away at the age of 70 at his home in Los Angeles. Apparently he was diagnosed with an Aggressive form of cancer on December 26, 2015 and passed a short two days later. Here is the message from the official Motorhead Facebook Page. RIP Lemmy.

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made its way down the street, with his family.
We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.
We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.

Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

Saw this morning on FB. I know very little of the man, outside of watching some of that movie called Lemmy. Liked how he lived in a tiny apartment, total minimalist it seemed. Liked the Ace of Spades song. Guess he was a huge Beatles fan.

Same here, not a big fan of the music, but that "Lemmy" show was very cool! As was he...

also interesting that the cancer was diagnosed Saturday and he died Monday.
my guess he was living with it for a while, just not wanting to go to doctor...
maybe the daily diet still of jack and coke's made it seem more like a cold or something he would eventually get over...

Saddened by this. The man seemed to have lived life the way he wanted to though. Rock legend & seemed a good guy.

Never really immersed myself in Motorhead (or early Hawkwind) but generally liked most things I heard. Any band that wrote a song called "R.A.M.O.N.E.S" is alright by me.

I loved his music a lot, especially when I was a teen. Motorhead meant a lot to me, I was and still largely am a Heavy Metal fan. I play mostly jazz for a living now, but it's comforting to know that people like Ozzy, Lemmy still around. Unfortunately, not Lemmy. They don't make them like that anymore, those insane, crazy characters that made this world so much more colorful and fun. It's a sad day for me.

Oh Man! I just saw a feature article (it was good reading) on him in one of the guitar mags not too long ago. A very cool and colorful character indeed.

Was never a big fan of Motorhead, but Ace Of Spades was one of those records that someone always broke out at those infamous impromptu keggers of my youth ; )
Lemmy did it HIS way, that's for sure.
Here's a nicely written tribute by Brian May for those interested:

Another Legend gone. I grew up listening to Hawkwind and Motorhead and still love that stuff. No sleep 'til Hammersmith is still one of my favourite live albums ever. Bloody Blistering!! Here is another side of Lemmy on guitar and vocals pre-Hawkwind.

Cheers to the original Iron Horse - Born to lose, Lived to win.

Does Lemmy appear in any of the videos (ie-Woodstock, Monterey Pop, etc) of the JHE/BoG? As a roadie he most likely would be standing just off stage while the band played.

Hello

Did you know that shortly before his death - on 6th dec - he was shooting a milk ad for finnish dairy-product company Valio.

1997 they had this ad - the man comes out and says : "I have never drunk milk - and I won't." The text after that states : "And one can see that."

Then 2015 they came upon the idea of reshooting that old ad - and someone suggested they ask Lemmy, who liked the idea.
That ad was never used in tv-commercial, but was put in YouTube for all world to see.

So in case you've not seen it - here goes.
