What a redundant quote.... no wonder they didn't want to be known.... jeeze.
Actually it's more like a logical Möbius loop.

Another favorite quote, from the great Richard Thompson:

"I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, because it leaves this whole other area open to people like me."

"Felix qui potuit rerum congnoscere causas" by Virgil is a staple I never tire of.

It translates into "Fortunate (the one) who was able to know the causes of things", and I find it as actual today as it was thousands of years ago.

Is it just me, or has this thread wandered off from Quote of the Day into Philosophy 101? IMHO Quote of the Day is way more amusing.
Have no fear, the veer is here!

In the meantime, a couple from my hero Sergei "Rocky" Rachmaninoff:
"Time may change the technique of music, but it will not affect its fundamental mission."
"...and the one thing they always wanted me to play, was that damned C# minor Prelude."

Word, Rocky.
It somehow satisfies on a primal level that your birthday is April 1st.

"Playing the guitar is all very well, John, but you'll never make a living at it."

John Lennon's Aunt Mimi
Robert Morgan, a former US senator from North Carolina went to college at Wake Forest College in North Carolina. Studying in the school library one day, he looks out a second story window and sees one of his classmates carrying golf clubs down to the course there in Wake Forest. Morgan self-righteously remarked to himself, "that guy will never amount to anything." The guy was Arnold Palmer.
