Hi Hans,

We have been having various discussions about pickups on Guild guitars on other threads. I think it is time for a specific discussion about pickups used on Guild guitars.

In particular the question arises as to who made/manufactured the small chrome cover and /or plastic cover with chrome side "mini P90" used on the early 1960's Polaras, Jetstars and T100's? Dearmond, Hagstrom and Guild have been suggested.

Similarly who made/manufactured the "Mickey Mouse" pickups?

Is it safe to say the mini humbuckers and full size humbuckers were indeed made/manufactured by Guild?

Did Guild design pickups and then have them made by someone else?

Did Guild specify the performance of pickups that someone else then designed and manufactured?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello mike,

Sorry for not seeing your question. I hardly ever come here. There's a reason for that but I won't bore you with the details.
Those pickups were not made by DeArmond, nor by Hagstrom. They were assembled by Guild from parts made by various other companies

Similarly who made/manufactured the "Mickey Mouse" pickups?

Same as above.

Is it safe to say the mini humbuckers and full size humbuckers were indeed made/manufactured by Guild?

Same as above

Anyway, this was not really a technical question, so you could have posted it in the miscellaneous section.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Great info Hans.

That clears it up for me. I certaintly would like to know more about the assortment of supplier for the parts and any history, etc.

I'll take you up on your suggestion to post under Misc with a hot link.
