OK! Based upon the reccomendation and high regard of so many of you on the K&K Mini, I'm installing one on my acoustic. Not a Guild sadly. Anyway, I'm reasonably handy on this stuff and it looks simple enough, but, I thought I see if there were any mistakes from which you all have learned so maybe I won't make the same ones. Or hints. Or...?

Hmmm. Well,I had mine professionally installed.

The reason: I am good at only these few things;playing guitar, singing, being a committed husband, being a devoted father, prone to lifelong friendships.... :D

...if it can be built, repaired, replaced or retired with either or any of the following: duct tape, blue tarps,zip-ties,large garbage bags....well I'm your guy!

When it comes to the install of a Pure Western Mini in any of my guitars....I call on a pro,and I don't care how it's done as long as duct tape, blue tarps,zip-ties,large garbage bags are not used to do it!

I've installed a few on my guitars - never a huge mistake but some seem to sound better than others. Like, the later ones sound marginally better than the earlier ones I installed, but the K&K minis overall are pretty forgiving.

Positioning them so that each is between a pair of strings, and with the saddle running directly across the center of each transducer is what you're shooting for. Here's a link to a pretty complete guide (with pictures!) about how to do it. I've followed it with good results:

The template makes a big difference in positioning them inside the guitar, and helps with confidence when you're rooting around inside your guitar with superglue ready to bond with anything it touches...

Good luck - good choice too! :D

Good idea to use a compact mirror & small flashlight to see the soundboard and to position the 3 transducers correctly (if you are not using a template to place them). Also recommended to use superglue over double-sided tape when applying the transducers- unless this is only a temp. install and you'll need to remove them down the road sometime.
