If I started a Let's Talk (endlessly) Strings forum, would you join and participate.

Bluespicky has enlightened me to the fact that string threads are too important to merely be a veer in another thread, and in my virus- induced pondering i'm beginning to think string suggestions and opinions should have their own friggin forum.

is it me or the fever?

our exchange is below:

Yoko: i'm curious what strings would sound good on those boutique guitars?

Bluespicky: Please don't do that Yoko.
A string thread is too important to only be a veer within an existing thread.
Please create a "Best strings for boutique guitars" thread.
I will subscribe. (And I would hate anyone to miss the opportunity to learn what strings are best, as per lack of visibility)

Strings are vitally important. Yes, I agree a separate page would be a good idea.

I'll string along with a string thread/forum because we really need to find a definitive answer to the question: Which strings ARE the best and why. :triumphant:  :witless:

I'm sorry but I'm going to vote against this one until people promise to read everything on LTG and only post things in the right areas. I mean what happens when someone who only reads Acoustics posts about the new strings they just discovered, and then gets told that those strings were discussed in the Strings section last week and then the natives come after the Moderators with pitchforks because there are duplicate threads and the Noobs attack with shovels because it is unwelcoming to move threads and then the whole thing happens again because someone rediscovers the relationship between DR Strings and Guild.

Or I could just say if it is Yoko's idea...

Extremely important factual side note: A "string" is what French people call a thong (regardless of the pitch). :abnormal:

Isn't a pitch where the English play cricket? One shudders at the image of an French String and an English Pitch. Of course if the one is me, one just shudders, period.

Just simplify things and make this a "sticky":

Somehow I was stuck at an image of you involving medieval tights and foil wrapped cucumber, but I'll keep an open mind and try picturing you in a "string" playing cricket on a "pitch".

With the nice days coming up, can we make that happen and immortalize on pic please?
I know there's gotta be a "pitch" in VA. ... it's where the Brits started the whole darn thing!

One good thing about all string threads being in one place is..... they'd be easier to avoid.

I'm looking at a new piece of music to start on.

Any string suggestions for this piece??

This is precisely why this thread was necessary. And I salute Yoko's responsible initiative here.
So much we haven't yet even suspected on the subject.

Tom: The #E on line 7 looks like a case of harmonic discrepancy if I may be so bold. (Before we start approaching the appropriate strings for the piece)

Tom, I'm questioning the Rigatoni marking. I think perhaps Mr. Stump might've had a bit too much "sauce" with his pasta that evening.

I would rather just the periodic thread topic about strings than a separate section. I am for less separation.
