Thanks for asking, FNG. This guitar was so widely discussed on here that I thought the subject was probably getting stale. And I don't like to gloat.

That said.

The X-700 is a grand slam home run. The condition of the guitar is like new. It is such a beauty. I haven't taken pictures yet, but I've been playing it a lot, just doing my normal flattop renditions on it. Gives every song a fresh and distinctive new sound. Really cool. Nice and loud. Extremely easy to play. Really makes you want to pick it up and play it. Share it. I loaned it to one of my best friends to play over Labor Day weekend.

I've had a blast buying and selling Guilds on e-Bay the past year, but getting this guitar for the price I paid was my luckiest moment of all. Without pickups and electronics, maybe it is just a great example of the less is more proposition. I had previously had an X-500, which has a laminated spruce top. As far as acoustic sound goes, the carved solid spruce top on the X-700 makes such a difference. I've purchased a set of JP medium PB strings to put on the guitar and I anticipate another leap in volume and tone. It came with nickel roundwound strings, probably 12's, and I think I have a full gear or two left to experience.

I showed it to my luthier last week. His eyes literally bugged out when he opened the case.

This is the coolest guitar I've ever had. Of the more expensive ones I've bought, knowing I really couldn't afford to keep them long term, this will be undoubtedly the hardest one to let fly from Zilla's Guitar Hotel and Spa. So I'm trying to scheme out how to justify keeping it.

The wife was impressed as hell by it. That is helpful in the scheme of things.
