Hi folks. New to the forum and my first post.

I just bought an M-120 (cherry, latest 1 3/4" nut version, secondhand) - mainly to use for bluesey slide and finger-picking - and would love to hear your suggestions for a passive pickup.

I only need this for home recording (looping) as a practice tool, so I'm happy with an inexpensive pup, preferably sound-hole and I'm happy to get the drill out for the jack socket.

Budget under £100.00.

Thanks.

I like the K&K Pure Western or Pure Western Mini. It's easy to install if you are at all handy and if you can get your hand in the soundhole. It is powerful enough that you do not need a preamp (but it will sound so much better with one) and you don't have to screw with the saddle to install it. But it is not a soundhole pickup. It is has three sensors that you superglue to the bottom of the saddle.

Other than that, anything by LR Baggs should suffice.

You might want to look at the DeArmond soundhole pickup that Guild has available and Fender has just come out with a series of soundhole pickups. As for drilling a hole for the jack,. you might look into getting a reamer. They are said to be cleaner than a drill bit but I have never done this, my guitars have always been drilled already.

Thanks Don. Anything Baggs or K&K is well over £100.00 in the UK. I'm looking at the DeArmond one and one of Fender's, plus the Deltoluxe that Gretsch use on the (horribly cheap, but that's another story) parlour that I returned last week, prompting me to buy the M-120.

I won't get the guitar until next Wednesday, so I'll look out for any other suggestions, but I'll most probably go with the DeArmond. If Guild like it on the M-240 that'll be good enough for me.
