Overall the show seemed pretty sparse when it came to Guild electrics. There was a '66 SF III that looked like maybe there had been a crack inside the body that was filled in - the crack didn't go through to the outside, so I'm not sure. There was an X160 Rockabilly I saw Saturday priced at $1900 "firm". I didn't notice it today, maybe it sold. Cream City had a '77 X500 blonde that they currently have listed on eBay at $2500. What appeared to be one of the Japanese buyers had a sunburst Franz-equipped T100D with an asking price of $2250. I think it's unusual they were selling, usually they just buy. This dealer bought a pair of cool-looking Park PA column speaker cabs with blue grille cloth but they didn't buy the matching amp.
Jay Pilzer of New Hope Guitar Traders had a burst '63 CA100 with an added floating pickup. Not my cup of tea, but it was in stellar condition. He's a good seller, I've bought a few guitars from him over the years. I was considering buying a '54 Gretsch non-cutaway he had but it only had a neck pickup (DeArmond) and I didn't really think I'd play it that much so I passed.
Sorry I didn't take any pictures to go along with the "reporting".
So I actually came home without buying anything - not even strings or tubes. Then I ordered a Winfield Typhoon amp - a single-ended EL84 head with an EF86 preamp. I've been wanting to try an amp with an EF86 front-end and this is a screaming bargain. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the week.
Next Philly show in November...
