My wife always boils the eggs and potatoes together when making potato salad and they do peel OK. For straight up boiled eggs we've been steaming them lately - 15 minutes in a steamer basket once the water is boiling then 15 in an ice bath. (Water and plenty of cubes) We also try to use older eggs (two weeks is about right) from the fridge and they seem to peel easier than fresh. I usually peel them under a thin steam of cold water and that seems to help also.

I’ll try the potato method! Usually I’ll keep the shells, hard boiled or not, and mix them in with homemade dog food - pups love it!

"Huh". We used to give our dogs an egg a week, raw, mixed right in with the Purina.
But the eggshells went into the compost bin: calcium.

{Edited as I'm now at work and can easily ad photos!]

Bought a six egg steamer! Make hard-boiled and soft-boiled every week. Ice when done and they peel like a breeze!

Hard boiled eggs are great snacks during 100 mile bike rides.
It's funny that way back in the day they said eggs are very nutritious and healthy, then the ''great egg villainization'' happened. They started preaching that eggs are coffin nails, they will kill you and turn you arteries to stone! Now it has come full circle and they know that eggs are very healthy and have a touch of all the vitamins except C. I wouldn't eat 60 at a time like Cool Hand Luke, but they are definitely a good wholesome food.

Yeah, and "they" said butter sucked and gave us hydrogenated fats like Country Crock and said they were good for you instead, but it actually kills you...

One day "they" said olive oil wasn't good for for the heart anymore, even though I'd been guzzling it for years ;] And I still do. It turns out Olive Oil is virtually Covid vaccine.

"They" said an Aspirin a day was good, an I did that, then "they" said it wasn't.

"They said "stress kills you".

Then "stress is what keeps you alive", which I believe actually.

Eggs are nature's most complete proteins is what I remember. Also, the more raw, the more digestible.

Wife found a clutch of Wild Turkey eggs one spring, yum ;]

Did you try the trick where instead of bringing the eggs to a boil in the water, you add the boiling water to the eggs and then simmer for the normal time, 10-12 minutes? Afterwards, you shock them in icy cold water to stop the cooking process, let sit for a few minutes, and then peel afterwards. I learned this when working restaurant prep in college, and it worked for me most of the time.

Yes they are - the calcium prevents blossom-end rot in tomatoes and peppers. I start saving shells in January, and every tomato and pepper plant gets a handful of crushed eggshells when it goes in the ground.
Same here! I have several jars of dried crushed up shells and every tomato, pepper or spice/herb plant I put in gets a dose. Seems to work well.

I use one of those "Egg Pos" you see advertised on TV. You put it into the microwave for x mintes, then run cold water over them when done and shake them in the pod. The shells crack and peel of easy peasy.

Egg-Pods, which I recommended above.

The only thing I ever bought off a TV ad.

They work! You barely have to peel the eggs, rather they practically fall out of their shells.

You can only do four at a time, but we seldom need more than that. Wish it had been around decades ago.

You gotta wonder about the first brave man who saw an egg and where it came from and then decided ''I am going to eat that!''
