Really, now don't laugh at me, but I never really knew what that was. I always sort of thought that was in the machine head. So that is actually the string binding in the nut and then freeing up. And "nut sauce" prevents the binding of the string though lubrication somewhat? All very interesting, I'd never heard of it.

I learn something here every day.

I'm with West - I didn't think of the tuning "ping" as a condition for nut sauce - I have it on 3 or 4 of my guitars - always on the G string.

I'd say the sound of the Rick single coils is closer to a Fender strat or tele sound than a P-90. The 360-12 has a tone blend knob that really changes the depth. I can compare only to my other electric 12 - which is the upper half of my Epi imitation Gibby 1275 - the "standard" model that has covered Gibby USA hums and sounds very full - but not like a Rick. Think Stairway to Heaven - not anything Byrds.

All the nut sauce in the world will not do you any good if the slots are not filed properly for the strings used. Make sure of your string fit.
