I picked up one of these amp heads on a whim with low expectations and was completely blown away! I was looking for a back up amp for playing out and didn't want to haul around another big amp. The thing looks like a toy and is incredibly small but plugged into the speaker of my 50 watt Mesa, it totally delivers! It has a 12AX7 pre amp tube and a 20 watt solid state power amp. We usually mic our amps at shows and this thing brings the power! A heck of a deal, and if you have a relationship with your Sweetwater rep, can get it cheaper than shown.

I have had the Dark Terror for a few years and I love it. I've been eyeballing one of these just for fun, glad to hear some first hand feedback. Thanks!

I could definitely see having one of these if it had a line out. I wonder how it compares to the Roland Cube, which gets a ton of fanfare?

I actually found that Prymaxe Vintage was selling them at a discount; 119.20 out the door, free ship, so I bought one! If nothing else, it'll make a great traveling companion/headphone amp. have you seen how small this puppy is?

I don't think you'll be disappointed Alan. It's crazy small, but the thing packs a punch! Let us know your thoughts after you put it through its paces.

I've been impressed by a few small solidstate porta-amps I've tried lately. One was this same Orange model, another a Quilter ToneBlock and the third a tiny Electro-Harmonix 44 Magnum. The Quilter and EHX are more power amps than proper standalones, though you can plug directly into both of 'em. Add a gain/conditioning pedal with a good clean sound and some EQ capability and you're good to go. Of course with the Orange all you need is a speaker cab. :)
