This is one of my influences when I was a teen...

and a stage variation of Ridgetop

And my favorite - Song for Julia

 sorry there was no Guild content

...How about this in his younger days? The Youngbloods from the Hollywood Palace and on stage...a Guild M65?

Hope you enjoyed it :D

Soul of A City Boy -- one of the greatest albums ever made. Just JCY and his guitar. Think I'll go home and listen to it.

...but the link to the M75 is a different guitar than the one in the link I provided. The instrument on the Youtube I linked was a single pickup with the newer headstock and a chesterfield inlay, early-mid 60's M65 maybe?

GOOD EYE! I missed that. Your original guess sounds good to me, but you're probably better informed that I am about those vintages from what you're saying now. :D

I suspect that I'm wrong about that early of a date, maybe later 60's or even beyond...I'm not much of an expert.

I just went and looked at the Hollywood Palace clip again. It's got 2 pickups and 4 knobs. Use my link, for some reason it's cleaner, see right about 1:12 and a few seconds after that. I go back to my original post. Banana playin' an M75.
Never did notice that discrepancy from the link to Banana's home page though!

You're right that it is an M75. There's only a few moments in the video where the bridge pickup is visible and it's difficult to see in a blurry video - the better video does show it.

I went back to Hans' book to work through the details, it appears to be a 1969 Bluesbird M75 reissue with the neck to body joint at the 18th fret. The Hollywood Palace date shown on the YouTube was November 1969 and this model must have been made within the past 12 months according to Hans' notes on page 57.

Good to see he's still alive and well. He was one of my sister's favorites back in the day. I listened to him a lot too. My sister is real funny about music and hard to buy presents for, so I figure a few JCY cd's for Christmas would be a good idea. :D

The guy brings back such great memories for me; where I was with whom and when. Thanks for the memories.

Peace
