Ok, maybe you read the downer on my F512...

Now the good news, I just bought a NOS D55, so what do you think?

Looks like a 2005, built January 25 and the 1st one on that day.

Does anyone know how close this is to the beginning of the Tacoma production? I thought the move to Tacoma was in 2005.

Oh, got it for $1600...

And its a Tacoma made! I have a Tacoma D55 from 2005.

Before I even knew much about Guild this past January, I visited the local guitar shop. I played all the martins, taylors, exc and nothing seemed to catch my ear! Then I saw that big old "G" shield and took it for a whirl. Something about that guitar struck me so right! The sound was so DIRECT, SOLID, and CRISP! I still can't find the right words for the tone of the D55, but it qualified as being my first high quality acoustic guitar!

Beautiful guitar, Eddie! The folks around here who have Tacoma D55s love them. I haven't played one yet, but I keep my eyes out for one .

Don't know exactly when production started in Tacoma, but it couldn't have been too long before your guitar was made.

Enjoy the new axe, and good luck with the repair on the F512.

'Grats on your D-55, Ed. That's surely one of the early ones from Tacoma. Not sure if any were released in 2004 or not.

Gorgeous axe!

I've been lovin' my '06 D-55 for four years now. It's my main gigging axe (Fishman Matrix pup installed).

The only cosmetic mod I made to my D-55 was to replace the TS pickguard with a black one. I'm happy with the changeout.

Enjoy your D-55!

Question time!

I guess I thought my D-55 was made in '06 because that's when I bought it new.

However, the serial number on my D-55 is TJ023006. The label says "Tacoma" just as the one above does.

When was mine actually made?

Thanks,

If you go to the Guild website they have information on finding the date of your guitar.

http://www.guildguitars.com/resources/guild_dating.php

Basically
T=Tacoma
J=2006
023=the 23rd day of the Julian calendar year
006=is the 6th guitar of that day.

Not sure when the serial number is assigned but my F512 showed a September date but I didn't get it until the following April. I don't believe it was brought in from another shop. I think it came directly from Guild.

Yeah, 6... Eddie's got it right on. Your guitar was built in January of 2006. I don't know if any of us is sure whether that day is "start manufacture" day or "body is assembled day" or whatever, but there you go. Right at the start of 2006.

Beautiful woods on that D-55, Eddie.
Congrats. Great price too. :D

I love my Tacoma. The best drednaught I ever played.
