It's pretty intense for 57s, even at a first listen. Quite the McCartney smooth underlying bass. If it was a wine I'd say flavors of Stones, Beatles, Mamas and Papas ;} Impressive bass on a second listen. I'd never really heard these guys, small town life. Wiki page is quite interesting. Another rabbit hole.
I always liked Robert Plant's version, too. Another Moby Grape song Plant does is "Skip's Song", also worth a listen (as is the original!)
