You guys ever seen this one before, a '79 Gibson Flying V2, with beveled body, natural, unbound ebony fretboard and dual boomerang humbucking pickups? They have one at Willie's Guitars. I'm not going to buy it, but I can't decide if I like it or not.

Interesting. Never seen one with the bevel and boomerang. Not sure I consider them an aesthetic improvement either. Don't try and play one sitting down

I don't.
Long time flying V copy player here, the 70's Ibanez (if I ever put my hand on a scanner I will post a pic of teenager bluesypicky playing it on stage with my hair below the shoulders  ) but for the reason put forth by Frono, it's been sitting in the attic for the past 15 years or so.... Keeping it for sentimental value I guess.
Anywoo, a flying V to me has to look like the one Hendrix or A.King were playing or it's not a flying V.
I'm old school like that.

I kinda like the style, but I ONLY play sitting down... and that doesn't even look like cello-style would be an option...

A laminate body and neck? Awfully strange. That must have been leading up to the Zoot SG series. I've seen laminated necks, but I would think that to be a fairly dead body. '79 seems a bit early to be leading the retro charge though. I'd guess it was still supposed to be cutting edge.
