While looking for melodies to play with the band, I ran across this video and thought some of the oldtimers would get a charge out of it.

Enjoy.

Chap

Great song. Here's their first big hit, co-written by Paul Simon, who offered the song to the band's bassist who happened to be touring with Simon and Garfunkel at the time.

Hi Chap and thanks for the memories ... oldtimers ... would that be 'you oldtimers' or 'us oldtimers'? It's okay to say ... you aren't gonna be picking up any chicks on this BB anyway

Hi Fab; what was that, spring/summer '66? Sort of a seersucker-shirt-with-fruitloop-on-the-back kind of song ... how would I know? you ask? Best, John

I almost hate to admit that I remember that song coming out. Part of the British Invasion, I guess. Sort of the second wave as I think this is about 65-67.

But what's up with the wierd Gretsch-looking double-neck?

Dave

Hi Dave, not UK Invaders, The Cyrkle was (were?) Americans and an interesting collaboration on Red Rubber Ball ... one of those factoids that seems interesting for about 5 seconds. Sticking with my '66 dating; green-eyed Susan in Ocean City ... some memories don't fade ... no guess on the two-necker.

hahaha... Yep. Had to laugh, I remember a saying from my old Boss. "Hell, kid, I got ties older than you." I have those ties now. :) And with four grand kids and one on the way, I don't have time for chicks. Wouldn't know what to do with one if I found one.

I remember Cyrkle when they first hit. Always liked Red Rubber Ball. Had a transistor radio under the pillow every night listening to WSAI 1360 on your AM dial. It's funny now. All they played was top 40. I finally figured out they were the top 40 because they kept playing those same 40 tunes over and over and over and over........ Fortunately, I don't listen to radio anymore. :)

Top 40 and transistor radios - quite a combination. I don't listen to the radio much anymore, but occasionally enjoy some of those oldies on CD. :)

1966 would be correct. Lots happening then; actually quite a time indeed! 8)
I guess the band was well-named, according to the Wikis, 'Time' was issued after the band broke up ... they really were Zombies by the time it had become popular ...

Hi Chap; not much to listen to in our market; typically country, metal, salsa, and praise music (not that there's anything wrong with that) ... but that's all there is. Clear Channel moving in too; acquired two better-rated stations and dumped the top jocks.
