Over the last year, I have been in some many video meetings and often in our data center with some support person, from a foreign land, while in our noisy and cold data center. We have a set of wireless headphones in there for the desk phone, but it was out of commission for a week and it really made me wish I had something to use even if I was just on a laptop in a normal location. The mic and speakers of a laptop just to do as good a job as a headset....So, what have you found that works that you can take with you and and plug into portable devices. One support guy mentioned some JBL set, which I need to look into.

There's a discussion that might be helpful here:

There's been no discussion of headset with a microphone, though. Do you need one in your headset?

To be specific, are you looking for bluetooth headphones/in-ears with a mic that will work with a phone?

Big fan of the top end Bose noise cancelling headphones. Bluetooth with mic, cord included. Sony's are a close second in sound quality from what I gather and slightly cheaper.

GAD,

Yep. I need the mic for video meetings. I would adapt the use from USB-C on laptops or iPad to a lighting plug on my phone. I would think some sort of boom mic would be better to keep room noise down, rather than a " you don't see where the mic is " ear bud thing.

Smallish form factor would be nice, so I don't look like a DJ.

I find the boom mic to pic up a lot of breathing noise.

If your looking for smallish form factor, you might want to consider earphones, assuming you can use bluetooth. I really like the Jabra Elite 85t - I use them for work, walking, listening to music. I bought a refurbished pair and been very pleased.

Coop,

The headset on the phone in our data center has a boom that sits pretty close to my lips, but I haven't heard much breath sounds. When I move under a low A/C vent, I hear the air noise. The reason I want a boom is that the Data Center is full of noise. The boom mic can be adjusted to low sensitivity, I would hope and not pick up all the noisy servers and switches. That's the worst case use for them, however.
