I’ve always liked Gibson’s Barney Kessel model, and had the opportunity to briefly play one unplugged once. This was years ago & the price seemed quite high back then, but it was nothing compared to current pricing! Two years ago, I did a double take when I saw this same Ventura version hanging in a small shop window in eastern Oregon. It was priced over a grand, which has similarly been the case in recent years with clone Ibanez & Aria versions from the same era - most likely all produced by the same Japanese builder.

So to my mind, this particular one in the Reverb ad appears to be a reasonable deal. Local pick-up only, and the distance is a doable four hour drive from my home. Too bad my buying days are essentially over - but the GAStronomical door will always remain just a wee bit open!

Try opening up the G string's nut slot, on the back (headstock) side of the nut. It looks like the string takes a sharp bend there, toward the tuner.

Cool guitar!
I will dojust that. Thanks, Geo!!

UPDATE: With the help of a file and pencil lead I the break angle on the G string under control. She is staying in tune. New strings didn't hurt either. For a copy of a copy it is pretty fun to play. I would still say an Epi Broadway MIK or Guild / Dearmond X175/55 series are still way better tone and feel. However, for $300 not bad.
