Seems like the fretboard gets fairly wide going up the neck, but the neck curve is pretty shallow the whole way. Might seem thicker towards the body because the heel seems a little longer than on other S-100's.

It's a pretty decent looking piece of 'hog and the finish/color are pretty nice. Actually, it seems pretty solid right outta the box. Intonation up high seems pretty good too, but I haven't really checked it out thoroughly. However, I tuned it up and started playing and wasn't disappointed.

Also, check out this weird pattern on the back by the upper horn:

I think it's kinda cool. Breaks up the wood grain a bit so it's not all uniform.

Wow... funny. I have never seen anything like that before. What is it? Wood grain weird pattern? Or extra piece of wood joined to the rest of the body?...

Looks like it's in the grain. The body is one slab.

Great looking guitar!

Would some type of worm in the wood have made that mark in the grain?

Or perhaps an error in the cutting of the body, i.e. a saw mark of some type?

It doesn't seem "natural", but I am no expert of wood grain. I do agree, though, that it looks sort of cool! Definitely unique!

Wow! That sure is pretty! Congrats! How does it hang on a strap? Any neck-dive?

Nope, balanced. Just like I expect S-100's to be (vs SG's).

The body is definitely two parts I would say. The second part starts in the middle where this interesting pattern stops. You see clearly the middle line between the right and the left side I would say:

I took a close look at it before putting it away last night - it's tough to make out but there is a seam running down the middle. It probably would have been much more difficult to notice if it weren't for that squiggly patch.

Agreed. The pattern on the front is very perfectly matched together, so it indeed looks like one big piece of wood. Nicely done! I like this little odd pattern on the back! It makes it unique.

At this price point you expect little imperfections like that, and yes, it does look kind of cool. The most important thing is how it plays and sounds, which seems to be pretty good..."Analysis: So far it strikes me as better than the DeArmonds and from what I remember it's along the lines of the '90's S-100's". With that being your analysis Guild did a good job. Of course you need to expand your playing range a little to really test it properly

You kidding? Taylor raises the price for those "imperfections." :) :)
