My GAS radar was working extremely well today. I decided to pay a visit to Sticks & Strings to see if the guitar had come in, and there it was, fresh off the Fed-X truck. Tony thinks I've been stalking the store in wait, but I guess I just got lucky.

First, the guitar is very light. I'm used to good old solid Guild acoustics and this thing is petite for a jumbo. The fit and finish are superb.

The sound is loud, balanced, and has that same bell quality I hear from my F-50R. I ran through "Melissa" by Greg Allman and was impressed by the sustain and clarity. I'm glad it showed up today because now I have the whole long weekend to immerse myself in it.

Oh, and echo everything LadyTexan said about her Orpheum OM. Or didn't say. I'm at a loss myself for vocabulary to describe how great this feels.

So here's a few quick shots I took. More to come. Enjoy

I saw the box with Synchro's GSR T-400 in it there too. I tried to talk them into opening it up, but nope. Common sense won out.

Thanks, Chris. I'm stoked. The GF and I are working on a piano/guitar duet thing and may have to start playing this beauty with her just to show off.

Wow, just beautiful Joe! I've got the sunburst version arriving sometime next week, but probably would have preferred a natural top like yours. It seems like most of the Orpheum Jumbos that I've seen are sunbursts, and there's not a whole lot of them. Yours is a rare one!

That's a beauty! You have me now questioning myself...do I get a vintage Epiphone acoustic archtop, or do I get an Orpheum Jumbo? I think I would be very happy either way, and as one that loves jazz and particularly Freddie Green the Epiphone probably makes more sense, but that Orpheum of yours is amazing!

Man, that is a hard choice. A vintage Epi archtop vs a new Jumbo? OK, I'm a jazz guy at heart but these Guild jumbo's stole my heart many years ago after hearing Dan Hicks. But archtops, especially an great old Epi, Wow, I'd like to be in your shoes. OK, just for you I'm going to attempt to play something really poorly just to appear as though this was a bad decision and I'll have second thoughts. HA! Not likely.:abnormal:

Thanks, Bruno. The long hot summer is coming and this will be fun retreat. I just played it to our cat. Yep, I'm crazy!

Ginormo. So impressive. I was playing my D50 while gazing at your jumbo and my dread was shaking with fear.

I'd guess something like "meow" or something close to it. :witless:

Happy Saturday,
Just another Joe
Thanks, Joe. I'm no cat whisperer but I get the impression she liked it. At least she's not as temperamental about it as my dog, who runs outside every time I start playing anything electric or loud. Everybody's a critic it seems. Or I just suck at guitar playing.

I rarely see a mahogany back that rivals the sheer beauty of rosewood or the interesting flame of maple, but this one sure does. Wow.
