Maybe it was meant to be a gateway model to the higher end Newark Street series (the role now held by the Indonesian-made NS models).

I also got the impression that the LB-1 version of the NS SF II was Guild's entry-level offering, before Guild lost its qualms about historically inconsistent model names and introduced the Starfire I line.

The Guild website says the Starfire II is discontinued now. I'm sorry to see that. It's the classic hollowbody thinline archtop. I hope they'll bring it back with SF III-like quality and a harp tailpiece.

Me too! It really is a great guitar and it's featherweight to boot.
