I picked up this beauty this morning. It is indeed in mint condition. Very fine silkiness in the natural top, nicely figured hog back. Sounds like a jumbo Guild 12-string should -- big and bold! This ought to keep me GASless for some time!

I don't play my ratty F212 as much as I should but I love the mellow tone v. my maple 12s.

Awesome! Love the silkiness in that top, wowza. I’d venture to say (just between that specimen and the F30rce I recently acquired anyway), looks to me like the stash of spruce at NH was exceptional.

Very nice! There’s something about the old F-212s that just can’t be matched! I still have the F-212 that I bought in 1964 and wouldn’t part with it. I also have an F-112, F-312, F-412, F-512, a G-312 and four Guild 6 strings. Wouldn’t give up any of them! I’ve always been a Guild guy!

It really surprised me.

• It's a lot lighter than my JF30-12, of course, lol.
• The seller said the strings are really old. He included a new set, which I haven't put on yet. Heck, I guess all my strings are fairly old.
• I told him to leave it tuned up -- I don't think you've got to slack the strings for transport -- so it came in tune, but he had it tuned a full step down and I left it there.

With all that, it is a monster of a musicmaker! Huge, rich sound! Jesus! (I've been using a pick lately.) Maybe tuning down is a good thing. I played it, then the JF30-12, then the F512.... It does not best the JF30-12, but the F512 is a little more refined and just a little quieter. I'm horrible at describing tonal differences, but it's in league with the JF30-12 as far as I'm concerned.
