Jaroboni, I'm just lovin' looking at that beautiful D-50 again and again. :D
Thanks, me too ;)

Here is a pic of it alongside my '63 Martin D-21. They make a great pair. Interesting tonal differences between 59-year-old Brazilian/Sitka and 11-year-old Indian/Adirondack.

I believe Guild stopped using the "Bluegrass" designation because they were also known as "Gibson" and/or "Martin killers".
Some people didn't want that kind of responsibility.

How would you characterize the difference in the sound. I’m imagining a deeper, richer sounding bass from the Martin. Though I know the Guild is no slouch in that regard.

Yes, you're spot-on regarding the bass. Deeper and richer. In general, the Guild is louder, sharper and more focused. They really compliment each other well.

Dig that back Jaroboni. Congrats on a beautiful instrument. That dark rosewood is quite lovely.

Thank you! All the woods in this guitar are really gorgeous. That's one of the ways it reminds me of my two Martin Authentics - every time I open the case, I pause for a few seconds to admire it before taking it out to play.
