Okay so I had sold my Corona JF30 and my Eastman AC122 to cover some bills and fund some new purchases in the last couple of months. The AC122 was the bigger loss of the two oddly enough. Just a super fun little box to play and will probably upgrade to an AC322 or better when the time is right. The JF30 just never took to the level of a keeper.
So I am on gc.com last Saturday looking for a cheap campfire guit and saw this little GAD F-130 for $375 which caught my attention as these run roughly $450 - $600 used. This one was listed in excellent condition. Of course I was skeptical given GC's tendency to exaggerate the condition at times. I put it in the cart, paid the $30 in shipping and it was on its way in short order. Got it in at 11am today.
Well this thing is in great condition. Hardly any marks on it. Of course the poly is in full sheen but that is to be expected with this series. Neck angle is nice. Plenty of saddle as it should be for a 2014.
You can't beat solid spruce top, solid hog back and sides, and bone nut and saddle for $375.
This thing is loud!!! It is louder than my '78 D-35 by a noticeable difference. I played it for my wife and she was impressed. the word that comes to mind when I listen to this guitar's tone is "rich".. Just a great example of an MIC Guild OM built really well and with excellent dollar to quality value. The 1 3/4 nut is a nice break from my other guits and will lend itself to my finger picking songs. I fully plan to throw a K&K pure mini in this badboy. It will accompany me camping, the odd gig, on biz trips longer than 3 days and of course when I am sitting on the couch singing annoying songs about my family.
