NGD! Here's why your NGD "steal" .... wasn't. Counterfeit Guitars Seized from China by CBP

Proud of that NGD "steal" you got from that private party online or at a local music store, think again, it's very likely that it's a China Fake. China Counterfeiters are Smuggling in Fakes worth a LOT more than Gucci handbags and Channel Perfumes you've head about often. I've seen many of these Fakes like this at Guitar and Instrument Shows that are being sold to unsuspecting players as legitimate. Ebay is another outlet. Some are very hard to spot as the Chinese are getting very good at faking them.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Seizes $158,000 Worth of Counterfeit Guitars

A total of 36 counterfeit Gibson, Fender, Martin, and PRS models were detained at Washington Dulles International Airport, if authentic, would have had a cumulative value of $158,692.

How many of you have gotten Scammed with a China Counterfeit? Better beware from now on.

Fortunately, virtually every fake we've ever seen had some small build details which weren't quite right, and I think most members are aware of that.

I can only recall 2 folks who came here after acquiring fakes, so they didn't have the benefit of feedback from us beforehand.

It's good to be aware, but it's very unlikely to happen here... that is, if the about-to-be NGD guitar is posted here and asked about. It's incredible the depth of knowledge about Guild guitars some members here have! They could spot a counterfeit from 100 paces!

And it is also the very unique beauty of this place - folks have respect and do not try to snatch the guitar from someone who found it first.

The guy who used to own the Folk Shop here in Tucson, he knew Ren too and was known for his extensive banjo collection,

he said in the early 80s, small groups of Japanese businessmen wound frequent US guitar shops and take notes and pics of the more sought after models.

we know what that was all about.
