Snagged a DV-52 off reverb this morning after jonesing for a rosewood back and sides model for a while and watching the used DV-52’s. Ebony fretboard too if I’m not mistaken and still quite the deal in the current vintage market. I can’t seem to decipher the serial number though I heard they get hard to track towards the end of Westerly’s run. I guess I’ll probably get it by the end of the next coming week.

Great price on that one Rambozo. Can’t tell how much saddle is left but if it all checks out that is a heck of a great score! Congrats.

So was this basically a D50? What was the difference between the DV and the D?

The DVs were introduced in the '90s. The "V" is for vintage. They were built lighter than the D50s of the '70s and '80s. I think this was Guild's effort to build lighter acoustics more like the ones they built in the '60s. DV-52s also have scalloped bracing which gives them a different sound from the D50s of the 70s and 80s. The DV-52 I owned had nice sparkly treble sounds and a deep boomy bass sound that reminded me of some Martin D-18s I've played. They are wonderful guitars - especially for the price you paid! : )

I love the rosewood on this model. DV 52's seem have really have a nice treatment finish on the back / sides of these. Letting the beautiful grain shine through. Nice score.

It arrived today. Neck angle still good and action great. Seemed like a gamble at first be there wasn’t a ton of pics and the seller seemed new to reverb but the case was packed nicely and it made it from Pennsylvania to Texas unscathed and it’s a lovely player. It’s been a while since I had a guitar with an ebony fretboard. Very slick feeling

Fantastic score. Glad it arrived safely and checks out. Nothing like an ebony board.
