I believe it's a 1987. I sent pics to Hans but forgot to ask him if he would verify the date. Pretty sure it's a '87 though.

This is a seriously nice sounding guitar in really nice condition. It has a few "beauty marks" here and there but no show stoppers. Action is good, neck angle is good, frets are good, no cracks etc. If I were to list it on Reverb it would get a solid Very Good condition rating.

I've got a Westerly D 25 and a Hoboken D 25. This GF 25 (Mini Jumbo) seems to be a lightweight as my Hoboken and for sure lighter than my D 25. It really is a great sounding guitar, very resonant and with a big voice and great balance. It came with a Baggs soundhole pup which I haven't tested yet but I'm sure it's fine. My playing partner and I are doing open mics, special events and small venue gigs now and I believe this will be one of my go to guitars along with my D 40C and DV 52. I'm very pleased with this guitar for sure. The back on this one is especially nice IMHO.

Now a little background. Shelby Rye (aka stuball) contacted me and told me he found this on the Nashville CL. I've owned a GF 30, GF 50 and GF 60 but had never owned a GF 25 so I felt I needed to try it out. I contacted the buyer (a super nice guy) but he was hesitant to ship. What to do, what to do??? So, I contacted Shelby who lives kind of near Nashville and of course he said he'd be happy to pick the guitar up, box it up and ship it to me.. I sent him money to cover the shipping which turned out to be a bit less than I thought. But, rather than just keep the money for his gas and time (which were without a doubt more) he wrote a check for the difference and sent it back to me. (well, he did keep 8 cents as a tip)

This is not the 1st time Shelby has enabled a guitar for me. I also found a 1994 DV 72 NT Coral. Same situation. He picked it up and sent it to me and it's now with Tom Jacobs for some work. Plus, he told me about a 99 F 30 R LS at Carter Vintage guitars in Nashville which I also bought and it is a really sweet F 30..

I've only met 1 (maybe 2) LTG members but there are a handful I consider to be friends even though we've never met, Ya'll know who you are and I appreciate you for sure. I don't have a lot of friends here where I live. I'm an old guy, a bit cantankerous and hard to get along with (at least that's what I'm told, bull headed, stubborn and not great at adapting to change. So, this forum has been a blessing for me.

Here's a few pics

Nice!

A GF-25 is on my shortlist. Sort of the cross between my F44 and a D25/DCE1.

I look forward to hearing more about how it sounds, etc.

Sidebar: I'm a former F30r-ls owner, and those are really wonderful guitars.

Looks like a really nice one Richard! Congrats. That bridge and saddle look pristine, well, aged but pristine. That's so cool that Shelby was kind enough to pick it up for you and ship it.

Richard looking back through the pics the label says "F-25".. No "G" except for shown on the serial number. Is this common with the GF Models? I don't remember what my GF-30 had on the label..

yes F-25 or F-025 was a common error on GF-25 labels

I know I say this ever time it comes up, but the arched back GF25 a GF30s, are closer to the original Hoboken F40 than the recent flat back models, sometimes advertised as being "inspired by" the originals.

Hans and a smattering of others on this thread ( yourself included ) are probably why my retention is sub par. You guys always have the answers.

Congrats guys, and I love a good LTG collaborative effort to bring 'em home!

Internal model designations on the GF series were pretty common. Both the GF30 and GF25 I owned were like that.

Teamwork!

Congrats on the GF25 Richard. I came close to buying one recently as it seems like a perfect size and combo. However I decided that I need to just stick with the 1-3/4 neck widths. My loss for sure. I bet it sounds terrific.

That's why I sold both of mine. It's funny, because some 1 11/16" nuts don't bother me at all, it just depends on the guitar. Both my D18DC and D28 are fine, as is the F50ce.
