Well... The DV72 from Facebook is now mine. Sandy decided it wasn't for him and was hot on the chase of another guitar, so graciously passed it on to me. It is my only dread, and truthfully the only one I've tried to acquire the past couple of years, primarily because of the wider nut width. Its actually about xxx1-23/32xxx Correction: with digi calipers it is a 1.74.1 neck, 174.4 nut with 1.47 string spacing which is very comfortable for a variety of things. The neck is very comfy and the ebony fretboard with those gorgeous inlays is just perfect. Super easy and natural to play.
This particular one has plenty of minor cosmetic issues that really don't bother me much. Chips, scratches, dings, some binding loss. It was a player ... as it was meant to be. It plays easily and sounds really nice. It took about a week of daily playing for it to open up... or for me to warm up to it. This fills a nice void I had with my small-medium F-shapes with its extra bass end response. It is not a loud, boomy guitar but does have a very nice tone and lovely sustain. In any case, Mikey likes it! My arthritic shoulder isn't happy however, and I can only play it for under 30 minutes at a stretch, but so be it.
The biggest issue concerning me is that there is some bellying and bridge dip. The neck angle is a touch high with a straight edge going over the bridge. Not terrible but something to keep an eye on. The previous owner did recently have a brace and the bridge re-glued, likely because of the bellying. In any case it seems stable for now and it is a sweet playing guitar. There is also a weird row of 3-4 round finish losses and NCL crinkling just south of and parallel to the bridge. I may need to have them touched up to keep it from discoloring the wood. Wish I knew what made that. Maybe a belly repair attempt? Oh, yeah... and that poorly placed strap button gotz ta go. TRC has been flipped.
Now the hard part is to decide which 1-2 of my other guitars to sell to justify buying this one. I love them all but there is too much overlap so something will have to go.
