I just received this one today from Glenn Jones aka (Wiley Pickett). It's a 1987 Westerly D 50. Except for a little soundboard finish checking it's in minty condition, The top has aged to a beautiful honey colored tone with silkiness galore. This is one of my most favorite Guild models and I'm thrilled to have been able to buy this one from Glenn. Now, if I could just play about 1/1000 as good as him, I'd be a happy kinda guy.

Here's a few pics. It's late in the day so they may not be all that good but you can get the idea.

Yes, hard to believe it’s more than three decades old!

I had three D50s at one time, all Westerlys, from three different decades: my Brazilian backed 1969/70 (belongs to Heath now); the 1987 one I just sold to Richard, and the one I still have, from 1977.

Mine is in nowhere near as nice shape as Richard’s, but it sounds great — the thing all three have in common.

Anyway, enjoy the heck out of it Richard — hope it finds a place of honor in a VERY impressive stable!

Cheers!

Love my D50 - it was my first Guild and first guitar of any real quality.
Yours looks amazing - congrats!

Congrats Richard. Glenn certainly has the ear so no doubt it is a beautiful sounding guitar. Enjoy!

Like Richard, when I part with my old guitars they're generally in better shape than when I got them.

All my guitars, at a minimum, get compensated bone saddles (assuming they came with plastic ones) and many also get upgraded tuners.

After that, just whatever else they need.

This one was in such lovely shape, it needed almost no tweaking. I replaced the saddle and put 18:1 Grovers on it, which fit the old screw holes exacty, so no mods were required.
