Yes I have seen the X-ray, too cool! While that particular BB-90 with the fat corona neck interests me very very much, on several levels I could not justify making a serious move for it the 2 times it was recently up for grabs. (If anything I should sell a Guild or 2)... Thrilled it stayed in the LTG forum family (twice!). And JHJ seems to be a very appropriate owner. Enjoy your birds everyone!

Yes...well...indeed it is good to keep these one-off's in the LTG family. I am so blown away by each, especially the Blues 90. This takes not a thing away from the BB...but the neck is quite unique on the 90.

What I want...ultimately...is a high condition Aristocrat. My 1957 M75 plays oh so well. And it will remain as such, but a higher condition sample could likely be a trade temptation. Of course, this is just conjecture as my 1957 soothe's that itch as needed. Not pretty to look at, but oh, that 1957 Franz sound.......

are you calling the BB-90 a one off because it has P-90s instead of humbuckers, or because of the xtra fat neck?
Or both? I thought all corona birds had a fat neck. Also it is a Bluesbird 90, correct? (As opposed to a Blues 90?). I guess the inlays on the fret board is the big difference? How do the corona p-90s compare to the aristocrat Frantz pick up? Is the neck on the aristocrat chunky at all? guilds are so fascinating!

I think the bluesbird 90 is harder to find then the blues 90- I believe it has the fattest neck of all and it obviously has the different fret board markers and binding-

Yes. It does appear that Bluesbird90 is harder to come across than Blues90 but even the Blues90 don't popup to often anymore. I've owned two Blues90's and currently own a Bluesbird 90. The Blues90 and Bluesbird90 both have chunky necks. I can't say the neck on either are different in size other than the fingerboard inlays. The Bluesbird90 is more neck heavy than the Bluesbirds. My memory says the Bluesbird90 body is a little thinner than the Blues90.

On Left: "Nightengale 90" w/ S100 Deluxe type Guildsby. Middle: Gold top Bluesbird w/Guild 80's speed knobs. On Right: Blond Bluesbird90.

Nice pair of 'birds. I almost bit on a similar quilt top on the Rochester craigslist. The seller had two up there for awhile now both are gone.

It's good to see well loved guitars on the forum. Here's the alternative if someone wants to rescue.
Las Vegas Craigslist $750 obo.

The "Nightengale90" is not an official Guild. It was never shipped from the factory. The guitar was one of the leftover non completed guitars from the Westerly plant that an employee salvaged. The finish and P90 routing all appeared to be original so Guild may have been exploring with the P90 idea but who knows. Hans had told me he knew of a number of left over Nightbird and Nightengale non completed guitars. The hardware was not the stock hardware from the Nightbird/Nightengale era.
I changed the P90 cover from cream to black and added the Guildsby. This is a really good sounding P90 guitar. I don't know the brand of P90's as their are no markings but they are not of the el-cheep-o variety. The bridge pickup on the Bluesbird90 is heavier wounds than the Nightengale. The Nightengale P90 pups sound more traditional.

The Nightengale is soon to undergo a upgrade to Franz pups along with a few other adjustments and replacement parts.

this Aristocrat is missing a bridge, right? or is that some old school bigsby design? sorry if this is a stupid question.

I'll give you one billion dollars for it as-is.

Do you have any more pics of it?

Correct, it looks missing. Any bigsby vibrato needs a bridge.
Ralf

Ralf,
thanks. The seller didnt mention anything about that in their CL add. I looked in Hans' book and could only conclude it needs a bridge, just wasnt positive. It is a super cool guitar, if it were long scale like the very very old ones I'd maybe take a serious stab at it. She's a project though, no doubt. hope someone as guildy as the rest of us can get her back to showtime condition.

Maybe you referred to the other Guild archtops here, at least there was never a long scale M-75 Aristocrat (see Hans book page 56 in the text). It had the shorter 24 3/4" scale from the start in 1954.

It's my understanding that this guitar has sold. Owner of the ad has not taken it down yet. A Las Vegas acquaintance has verified.
