Chazmo:
Been thinking about your situation with your Oxnard D40 and I just wouldn't feel right with you living with the emotional baggage you are feeling of "I feel like I stole it." To ease that mental anguish, I will take it off your hands so you will be "guilt free."

It's funny. I sold my '70s G-312 a few years ago (12-string version of a D-50) and so seeing a Guild dread on my guitar stand really stands out in my head. What a beautiful shape (IMO). And the Guild pickguard and bridge look just so "right" to my eyes, as does the white ABS plastic binding. Also, we could discuss whether a Chesterfield or a plain, "standard" headstock makes the whole package, but I quite like the plain one.

It also occurs to me that I now have 3(!) "standard" Guild guitars. I'm going to have to take a group shot soon as there really is a family resemblance even though New Hartford did not use white bindings... I'll do that later!

Congrats Chaz! However, it appears your dog wanted a D50...

The back is just stunning!

Almost looks like rosewood!
Thanks, Sandy. Yeah, it does, kind of! I'm not sure what Oxnard is/was doing to get the grain to pop so wonderfully, but they did a good job because just looking at the unfinished wood inside the body it's not nearly so obvious. I'm thinking dark pore filler with a yellow-ish varnish. Not sure.

Nice catch, Chazmo. The pictures and closer inspection tell me you have a one-of-a-kind find. I absolutely love the grain on the back and sides.

So nice to see Oxnard’s build quality at such a high level - the future of the brand is looking rosier all the time!
