This one showed up at my door yesterday. I always have loved the D 40 and D 50 models and I was looking for a D 40 CE Std. with electronics for some time. This popped up on Reverb. It was some playwear and some rash on the back of the guitar but the actions, playability and neck angle are all really good. Also, my local guy does some pretty miraculous stuff with his buffing wheel so I'm sure he can help it out a bit. Even if not, I'm really quite happy with the purchase

Anytime you can get into a made in the USA D 40 with OHSC and electronics for about $800 all in, I think that's a deal that's hard to pass up.

Here's a couple pics:

Mighty fine looking D40, Richard.
Bet it plays and sounds marvelous.

Sure it still does, very well, for what it was intended.

Fantastic score, congrats! And now you can reach those notes above the 14th fret. :)

Nice score Richard. Love the New Hartford builds. You seem to be on quite a Mahogany tear lately.

Can't go wrong with the Standards from NH. I'd like to collect all. Let's see now, there is the D40, D50, F50, what am I missing?

Great snag Richard! I would have bought that if I had seen it first, but you're awful hard to outrun.

I think there's an F30 and F30R, along with my B54ce bass. I had a D50 Standard that I scored for a similar price, and it was a great guitar. I couldn't rationalize having it and my old D50 so I sold it to @dapmdave. Not sure what happened to it after that.

...and your F50CE Std is the one I never see for sale.

I have so many good guitars that sometimes that F50ce gets lost in the sauce, and I think that I should sell it. But then I remind myself that I'd probably regret it, and they're getting near impossible to find these days.

The 2011 Catalog at https://www.gad.net/Blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Guild-2011-Catalog.pdf

lists:

D40, D40CE, D50, D50CE, F30, F30CE, F30R, F30RCE, F50, F50CE, F212XL, F212XLCE

You could go back or forward to get changes in the lineup :)

The B54CE shows up (and is Standard) in 2012.
Yes, mine is a 2013, when they went to satin sides and back. Interesting that the 2011 catalog doesn't show the sunburst option on the F50 Standard, which definitely was available. Not sure If I've seen any of the other Standard line in sunburst though, and I did forget about the F212XL Standard.

I know what you mean Sandy. You have always talked highly of your F50CE Std. I love my D50CE Std. What a fine pair to have.

I've been playing this one every day since I received it. In fact, I just put it down. I gotta say, this is one of the finer sounding instruments that I own. I love this thing. Plenty of scratches and rash but the sound is more than sweet. I bought it on a whim and because it was priced right but it is quickly turning into one of my go to Guilds. New Hatford got it right I think.
