I recently acquired this F-40K from a former Tacoma plant employee. His boss told him to take a couple of guitars when the plant shut down; he doesn't even play guitar. Been sitting on this one and a CO-2 for the last 10 years. The guitar is in mint condition; the protective film was still on the pick guard. I arranged to meet him in Oregon while I was on vacation. I would have bought the CO-2 as well if I had the funds at the time. It has a gorgeous burst finish. I may try to get it from him.
The F-40K is really stunning. The koa has a great tone and the appointments are really nice: bone saddle, nut and bridge pins, tortoiseshell binding, Gotoh tuners. The only thing missing was the original case, which he didn't have. I have tracked down the correct case and ordered it. I'm working on the set up (needs a truss rod adjustment) otherwise its dead mint.
Now I got something to play with while I'm waiting for the D-55 to get fixed.
