I just received this one yesterday from William. We are doing a trade and his guitar got to me 1st. It's a beautiful 1980 D 50 in that great burst finish. As I mentioned to William, this D 50 has survived the aging process a lot better than I have. It's in really great shape, with nice action and a very good neck angle.

I always look at any guitar I received and then decide in what condition would I rate it if I were forced to sell at some point. Without a doubt, I would call this one excellent. It really is and has survived 43 years really well. It has some of the nicest EIR I've seen on a Guild.

As an aside, William was superb to deal with so if you ever get the opportunity to do so, have confidence the instrument will be as described, packed really well and shipped quickly.

I just hope he enjoys his F 50 Std. as well as I'm going to enjoy this D 50.

Here's a few pics:

Congratulations Richard - with eyes like you have, you would have made a great sniper for our military. Doubt, that there are many 43 year old guitars in as good of condition as your recently acquired D50. Play in good health.

Congratulations, Richard! I'm a big fan of the D50 but have never played one from the Westerly era. I hope you enjoy it.

It could be that I used to own that guitar. As a matter of fact, that's it in the photo to the left!

Maybe William could confirm that he bought it from me?

It was a wonderful guitar, for certain. But it and the D-46 in the photo sounded almost exactly alike, so I let the 50 go. Had to make a choice, which wasn't easy.

Nice that it's stayed in the family. It certainly is a pretty D-50!
