What does the "18" refer to?
What does the "18" refer to?
Didn’t Pete’s Guild belong to Merle Travis at one point?other than pete townshend's electric guild, this is the coolest guild i ever laid eyes on.
That's good to know! The original owner took good care of the guitar. Though the top part of the bridge is replaced.
I was told that Merle would send his guitar into the westerly factory every few years for maintenance. Nobody would want to touch it because it was so disgusting!Didn’t Pete’s Guild belong to Merle Travis at one point?
A Guild A 350 would be the ticket. Acorn has one.
I would pick my '46 Epiphone Emperor to play acoustically, or the '37 Gibson L-5 over this AA.
So this, and F-612 were 18". Were there any others?
Lou Del Rosso of Guitars'n Jazz in Summit, NJ was the facilitator for this trade. The owner of the guitar can't remember where the top part of the bridge went. Maybe he'll come up with it sooner than later. He did make a video documenting the guitar, and Lou has promised to try and get a CD of that documentary for me. Let's see. You're right about Bishop Stern. I visited today and showed him the AA. There was a small loose screw inside the tuner for the "D" string which wasn't keeping the post down in the hole. He fixed that easily. After researching options for the bridge restoration, I'll go back to Bishop. At the moment, though, the current bridge is just fine....intonation is excellent also.Rich, do you have a photo of the original bridge top? I'm willing to bet that our favorite luthier, Bishop Stern, could make you a faithful copy out of something legal/ethical.
Reminds me of the Gibson Heritage acoustic my cousin had that had probably the nastiest fretboard you ever seen. He sent it to me complaining that the fretboard was sticky and the strings would go dead within two weeks. I think the time I wiped all that crud off I had to throw away the shop towel I used because it was just tainted, you weren’t gonna get those stains out with all the AJAX in the world.I was told that Merle would send his guitar into the westerly factory every few years for maintenance.
