It arrived yesterday and I was able to hold myself back and let it acclimate before unboxing. All I can say is wow! There is play wear but I can’t believe the condition given the age. The blonde finish is beautiful. The nut is wide with a very full neck, good action and the bridge can be lowered, all electronics work and no signs of any issues. This is now my oldest Guild with serial number 1850 as my 1954 Aristocrat is serial number 1969.

I was a little nervous how it would sound as it has its original caps and resistors. I just got finished playing it through my Carr Mercury amp. The bridge has some treble being bled off but very usable. The neck appears to have the most caps and such as it almost has a little nasal sound. The middle pickup is just amazing. I have no idea what caps and such are on it but I don’t care. I could play that pickup all day. I was hoping I would like the sound as I would be really reluctant to mess with the original wiring. No need to mess with the original wiring. The hardest part is that this is my Christmas present so I need to put it away and not touch it until Christmas morning. That’s going to be difficult!

These are not great photos but here are a few shots:

That looks incredible!
Congrats......
I'm not sure what I'd do with a third pickup and all these switches and controls but I'd surely be inspired to find out.....

I don't understand waiting until Christmas. Why torture yourself?
It was a tactical way to let another guitar enter the house and keep my wife happy. She was stumped on what to buy me for Christmas so I just helped her out! At least Christmas is less than a month away. I do have to admit that I have tried this before but I purchased that guitar much too early and broke down and got my Christmas present out early. She was not pleased so I am doing my best to wait this year. It is a good thing I have purchased two other vintage Guilds in the last few weeks so I am pretty confident I can make it all the way to Christmas this year. Wish me luck!

Yeah that’s lovely.
I’m not a 3 pickup person but that’s rather tempting.
Congratulations.
