After a significant but valiant struggle, and lots of help from Chazmo and Graham over on the AGF, I have finally been registered. Thanks Guys! Obviously for some strange reason I was found worthy. Must be something to do with that one little GUILD guitar that I own.
It's a start! My better half just barely got over the shock of a Martin when I scooped up the Guild a few weeks back. It was a long saga of looking for a "campfire" guitar, and after I tried some Blueridge and Taylor models - there was still some undefinable thing missing.
By a shear stroke of luck I checked out my local luthier (not that local, it's an hour drive from where I live), and there was this Guild that had been apparantly sitting around a long time. He had even dropped the price as no-one seem interested in buying it. When I picked it up and gave it a strum, it was love at first twang. Something about that deep rich mahogany that gives just a wonderful sound. FYI - that same day two other guys came by specifically to see the Guild - which by that time was in my music room. It was my lucky day.
I did some research and found this was a 1993 Guild, and as you all will know better than I, made in the Westerly factory. Well my so-called campfire stick is now suddently more precious than my Martin, as I expect I would have a hard time finding a replacement for it should anything (gasp!) happen to it while being transported.
So, now I have to figure out how to buy another guitar that I won't worry about when I throw it on a plane -or it's Mr. Martin, get ready to travel.
Hope to have some fun here and add something to the forum. See ya around.
