Welcome aforum. My first guitar was a Peavey Patriot. Pretty awesome American guitars for the price. Nice to see the MW representation increase.

Hey, me too! Mine was kind of an oil finished mahogany. Not the coolest looking guitar, but actually played very very well and sounded pretty good. A great beginner's guitar in that it plays well enough not to frustrate you into quitting and, with a decent amp, sounds good enough to play on stage if it ever gets to that point.

As for the S-200... I never knew such a thing existed. I really like the ebony board, extra binging, G-shield guitars and wanted a SF-VI very badly before I found mine. Now I have to wish for something far less attainable. Were it natural finish, I'd be beside myself.

Now, anybody know if they ever made a SF-VI/X-500/F-50/-appointed Starfire XII?

[EDIT]- Also, what's up w/ the pole pieces? Look like big allen screws rather than pan-heads?

I almost feel guilty about saying this, but I just picked up another sunburst S-300, this one a 1977 model with Guild humbuckers and the mahogany body and neck, off of Gbase. I did say I had a thing for sunburst guitars, didn't I? They will ship it today and I should have it by next week.

Next is the S-300 A, and the S-300 D bursts. Nothing to feel bad about there!

Oh, don't go there. I get myself in enough trouble with justification of G.A.S. purchases without someone else planting seeds in my brain.

Plague,

I'll keep you in mind, should I want to part with one. Sorry to have taken this one out from under you.

Thunder,

Gorgeous bursts there w/ very nice grain! Here's my warhorse S-300-D, a black '77 w/ guard. Great guitar, but I'm seriously thinking about swapping in HB1s as the stock DiMs are a bit dark for my tastes.

Thanks, S-D.

I will be interested to hear what the Guild pickups sound like compared to the DiMarzios in my S300A-D. I would imagine the Guild/mahogany combination of the S-300 will make a nice contrast to the DiMarzios/ash combination. Looking forward to hearing the differences.
