Newbie Here.....

From The UK. I've got 2 Guilds, An S4CE, 90'S and a GAD 30PCE. The Gad is my main gigging guitar (I leave my Martin and Gibson at home). Got to admit the Gad is the best value guitar I've owned. Not the best, but the best value. It performs really well. It's playable, strong and sounds brilliant.

The Songbird (S4CE) Is American made (obviously) in the 90's. It's a superb instrument. I'd really like to know its value? Any ideas anyone?

Welcome. The extra two strings on your guitars means I'm out of my league with answers for you but someone will be along soon.

Hello Al,

Welcome! There are several different versions of the S4CE.
Give me the serial number of your guitar so I know which one you have.

Sincerely,

Just Checked,

It appears to be 1997 Songbird HG or S4CE. What does HG stand for??

Hello Al,

Your S4CE was indeed made in 1997 and as Graham already pointed out, HG stands for High Gloss finish. At the time it retailed for $ 1399.00 which was $ 200.00 more than the HR ( Hand Rub) version.
This particular version of the S4CE usually sells somewhere around $ 600.00 / $ 700.00 depending on condition. I would think it would be somewhat more in the U.K.
The earlier version of the Songbird usually brings more.

Sincerely,

Hi Al - what part of the UK :?:

Need reinforcements with this lot

Hi,

I'm near Darlington up North. I think we Brits need some reinforcement at times, but overall I'm impressed with our American cousins.

Hi,

Thanks for that Hans. I've valued it at about £800. Truthfully tho' I don't think I'd release it for less tah £1000, 'cos it's a really versatile instrument. I used to play lead in a country band using a stratocaster, but now I'm predominatly Folk. The 16 fret neck and cutaway allows me to play lots of leads. It looks good too.
