Hello group....i am new to the board. i have a couple questions. i have a early 90's D-40 i just purchased. it is an awesome guitar, but i need to know a few things. what is the best polish to use on the back of the neck...it seems to get sticky back there quite easily. and also the input jack is the only strap button on it....where would you guys suggest i have the other one put in, or should i look into alternative ideas to keep the sound and the finish original ?

Welcome aboard, slowhand.

As for strap-button placement... There was a really good discussion about this a few weeks ago, but I can't find it. There isn't any universal agreement on that. New Guilds come with strap buttons on the top side, above the neck block. Many folks have drilled holes in the bottom side of the neck heel and put strap buttons there (I like that; it's where Taylor puts 'em).

There are many options. :)

Slowhand,
*I need to know the origin of that nickname/screen name. Bound to be a good story in there.

Welcome to the Guilded forum. There's a lot of suffering here, but I don't think anyone's really looking for a cure. We draw strength from just knowing that we're not alone. :D

Stay in tune,
Joe
