I grew up with Guild acoustics, and have always sworn by them since. My dad has a 90's D40 and I found, that's right, found a 1967 small body in basement under the stairs when I was 15. That's what started me playing guitar. I started playing an instrument in kindergarten, starting with the cello. Then, in 4th grade made the switch to double bass. In 7th grade I pick up the electric bass, and played in bands throughout high school. I'm in college now, still playing in bands and I recently traded my Fender mustang bass for a Dearmound "Guild" Starfire bass, making my collection of only Guild instruments.

Here are some pics.

Very nice, and welcome.

I wonder what the small body is? Should be a label inside...

There is a label, I'm just not with the guitar and couldn't remember, once I am back home I'll post what it says...

I love the Starfire, it's so versatile it's unbelievable, it does everything I want a bass to do almost perfectly, it thumps, it slaps, and it eats fuzz for breakfast!

YES! I would love to find a set and throw them in, but I dont have the cash they go for right now. I'm afraid to put Dark star's in, I'm afraid it will sound too good and ruin all other sounds for me

Darkstars and Hagstroms have truly ruined me. I got over the 'active' thing when I was in high school, and have been all-passive since, but after going about a variety of sounds and landing a JS with Darkstars, it's all over. (Not that my JS w/Hagstorms is scared... ;-))

So yes... be afraid, be very afraid!

Welcome here mc_muench, from a fellow DeArmond Starfire owner! They're great basses for the money. That small body of yours looks like the twin sister of a '68 F20 I had for a while. Good looking family you have there. 8)

As I keep telling Frono: Relax, there might not be anything wrong with you just because you play bass.
Welcome, and congrats on the pics! The ones at the top on the old wood floor are partcularly sexy, if I may be so bold. :D

I am also new to the forum, but I bought my first Guild in 1980. The D-50 was my first good acoustic. I bought my first good bass (M85-II) later that year. I still have them both!
