This came in 3 days ago, is in mint condition, and is a joy to play. I used to have a Westerly made SF III and a Westerly SF III P90 and while I can't say if this new SF is as good as the previous 2, I can say it checks all of the boxes for being a keeper. One thing that surprises me is the lack of a Bigsby bridge. How would an aluminum Bigsby bridge change the tone? I'm thinking it would make the guitar brighter but there only one way to find out.

I've only played it through my Fender Vibro Champ Reverb and this thing drives the amp like a Andretti! It's sounds glorious with just a cord. The lows are tight and crisp, the highs are glassy and airy. I wish I knew about these earlier!!

BTW, @Vibroluxer , I’m not sure if it’s just an illusion, but it appears that you’ve got some kind of protective film on the truss rod cover that’s bubbling up at the screw heads. Probably just peel it off after taking off the TRC?? Otherwise, if it’s a new guitar, message Guild to get a replacement.

You have better eyes than me! It's a piece of protective film that I can't quit grasp with my finger nails, I'll have to get a tool if some kind to lift it off. Thanks!!

While you’re at it, check the pickguard too. Several of my acoustics over the years have had protective film on those as well. Not sure about your Starfire...

Yes Sir, it's still on the pick guard as well.
Quick, amusing tangent, vib...

I recently received a new LCD display for my eBike and I simply could not tell if there was a film on it. I didn’t want to go picking at my new display and end up scratching it trying to remove a non-existent protective film. Luckily my bike company has awesome customer service and they answered right back (in the affirmative). Once I took it off, I felt better. :)

I find it amusing when folks leave the protective films on their guitars… presumably so that when they resell them they can say “hey, look, original condition!"

I have another anecdote about my father and our 1968 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with the most beautiful, white leather seats you ever saw… that he covered in thick plastic seat covers. That’s a story for another day. :) Rock on!

Congrats Vibroluxer. I bought the same one after reading GGJ’s review. Very impressive build quality out of Korea. Overall great value. The pickups are good, but I may try to upgrade them someday. Enjoy!

BTW Vibroluxer, that's a sweet SF III. The aluminum bridge definitely makes it brighter and ringier.

I thinks it's somewhat akin to having the plastic covers on furniture. :C)

Remember when this was all the rage? Well, it was pretty common among my friends' parents in Cleveland. Lol!

Yep. A friends house was like that. Also plastic runners on the floor and no shoes allowed in the house. Complete control and clean freaks. Needless to say we all hung out at my house and played that evil rock music in the basement.

Exactly… Well, since you brought back those awful memories, jp… ;)

My dad had seat covers like those sofas in your pictures that he had installed in his brandy-new, baby blue, Coupe DeVille convertible that he bought when we moved from NYC to Long Island. I was only 5, but I/we really loved that car.

Well, he changed cars every two years back in those days, and by the time I was in 8, a fellow came to our house with a bag of cash and a pocket knife. We had endured almost three years of those <expletive deleted> plastic covers in that magnificent car only to have this guy show up, cut the cursed things off, and drive off with one of the most beautiful (and comfortable) interiors that was ever made.

Sigh.

JP, you owe me one. :D :D

Aw, sorry to invoked that memory, chaz. Mine aren't too pleasant either, actually.

My memories about plastic sofa covers involve tense moments waiting for my friends. While with my friends' parents on that sticky, hot plastic, trying to think of something to say, I recall shifting my weight around slightly. The noises that would break the awkward silences of those hot afternoons were like peals of thunder to my adolescent ears.

In the ham radio world I’ve seen people buy and use expensive radios and never remove the awful stickers on the displays so that the displays are pristine when they sell the radios.
