I don't know if anyone is into this Vancouver, B.C. band, but they're one of my faves. While checking out their site, I stumbled across a photo of a beautiful trio of Guild electrics that could belong to John Collins or A.C. Newman. Don't know 'cuz I've never seen them live. I think the pics were taken during recording of their new record, Together. Looks like a black S-100, a 70s M-75 solid body, and what looks like a sweet green mid- to late-60s Starfire VI.

See here. . .

and here.

Now I like them even more.

If you're not familiar with them, you may be familiar with one of the members Neko Case. She actually plays a tenor guitar most of the time. She'd be even cooler if she played a Guild tenor a la Tiny Grimes.

Hello jp,

Make that a late-'60s Starfire V. Cool guitar indeed!

Sincerely,

Actually, they made some Starfire VIs in 'Emerald Green'. There's a nice early one, with the body joint at the 16th fret, on page 99 of 'The Guild Guitar Book'. I wouldn't mind having that one!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Actually one test of Geezerhood is whether you glance at the women (who are typically young enough that you waved a shotgun at their potential boyfriends) and then obsess about the Guild.

Will this do in a pinch?

oh yes, yes that will work just fine, not really my type but I could make that work with no complaints. I am guessing the Guild in is in the little house behind her.

Do you suppose she has adopted Guild's "Made to be Played" slogan?

Based on her attire, she does appear musical...

Reviving an old thread. Anyway, I'm an AC Newman and NP fan. He's mentioned his M75 in a bunch of interviews recently. In Pitchfork (pitchfork.com/features/guest-lists/7807-the-new-pornographers/) he said:

Favorite Piece of Musical Equipment

A couple of years ago I bought a Guild M 75 electric guitar. I think it's a mid-70s model. It's hands down my favorite guitar I've ever owned. When we were recording Challengers, one of the guys in the Seaside Lounge had a Guild M 80, which is a very similar guitar, and I used it so much I thought, "This is my favorite guitar." It just played so amazingly well, like no other guitar. Maybe it just fit my playing style; I don't know what it is. It's hard to find them, so when I finally found a Guild M 75, I was very, very happy. It became my prize guitar.

And then in an Emusic (http://www.emusic.com/features/spotligh ... ewman.html) interview he said

My favorite guitar is my mid-70s Guild M-75, and after that my TV yellow Les Paul Special. It was a Xmas present from my wife, so it wins as a sentimental favorite.
