Pictures good enough? I don't have any external light source except outdoors, where it's about 45 now.

I believe you've got yourself a keeper there Barbara.....or a gold mine, whatever your perspective.

Another thing that might interest you Barbara, is that if I'm not mistaken, your guitar is much older than a '73. Your label indicates it was built in Hoboken, which would put it at pre '68. Hans can probably tell you exactly when she was built.

I'm not going to even say the "BRW" word (and it's a beauty, regardless). But, from the SN, it looks like a late 69... perhaps one of the last of the Hoboken Guilds. From "The Book," it appears that production at Hoboken and Westerly overlapped from ~67-69. Hans?

Hey guys,
I just got back from taking my Guilds to be appraised at Lark Street Music, which is a total resource in these parts (in case you know of him, Buzzy Levine is the owner & appraiser man). He is pretty sure it's Brazilian too, but was curious to know what you all thought as well.

Just to clarify, I bought my FIRST Guild 12 string, an F-312, in 1973. That was stolen. I found my current baby about 20 years ago in a pawn shop in NYC. The serial number is weird, because the last of the Hoboken 69s are numbered OC-223. Mine is OC-247. So was it begun in Hoboken, then finished up in Westerley? Is it 1970?

And then there's those Florentine inlays -- is it absolutely sure that Carlo Greco did them? I suppose I could ask him...he's here in NYC.

Thanks for putting up with all my photo mishaps!

By the way, the *sides* of my F-512 look to be EIR, NOT Braz. I wonder if they only had enough Brazilian rosewood to make only the back, and that was the end of it?

Buzzy appraised it at around $4,000 for insurance purposes.

Anyone know how you can post .wav or sound files?

Guild is definitely known to have mixed Brazilian and Indian rosewoods on a guitar. But the back is what matters most IMHO, as far as tone goes.

Nice guitar!

Barb,

It's so obviously Braz that even West and I could see it.

Buzz Levine is a highly regarded dealer and Guild expert. He sold me my first Guild almost 20 years ago.

Do you have any pics of the side?
