Hi Guild lovers, I'm kevmac from R.I. and this is my first post here.
I don't know the ropes yet but I hope someone can help.
I own many basses accumulated through decades of playing and my Guild Pilot 4 string is my weapon of choice.I love everything about it and that I have never had to do anything but change strings since I bought it off the pawn shop wall is a testimony to Guild workmanship. It is what I call a Cherry Sunburst and loaded w/ EMG p-j pups and the headstock is contoured and rounded ,not a pointy hockey stick type. The serial number is BE101068.I have looked on the Guild id site but can't make heads or tails of it. Thanks!

Welcome. Stick around - nice bunch of folks around here. The 4-string cavalry will be along directly.

Welcome to LTG!
I'm not the bass specialist but the serial number is a 1985 serial number and I guess you have a SB-602 Pilot Bass.

There is a great publication about the Pilot Basses which Talkbass.com has uploaded:

Does it look like this regarding the headstock? There were a few different headstocks.

Sunburst similar to this?

Hi Ralf, that looks like my precious, headstock and finish( mine appears a slight bit darker but that may be due to many years gigging in smokey bars) I've never seen another like mine.1985 you say? That seem very likely as I got it in 95 and the dealer said it was old.But she's still in great condition. Thanks so much.

It's been shared here a lot although not since LTG could host files directly.

For the record the author, the late Brian Bowdren was a luthier and bass builder in Maryland. I never met him but he did make me some saddles.

To steal @The Guilds of Grot 's thunder.

Putting the doc here for posterity just in case.
