Hi all; Glad to be here. I'm hoping to get some information. I have a question to ask.

What would be a fair price for a '97 Blues 90? Nice condition with the exception of a missing tone knob. Translucent red. Perhaps could use a slight level and crown... but plays nicely. I'm awfully interested. Thanks for any insight.

Thanks much.

Hello Mr. Shark. It's a bit of a tough answer as it all depends upon the motivation of buyer and seller. I've bought a few Bluesbirds, including the Blues 90, and you're likely to pay between $1000-$1300 as a general rule. They pop up pretty regularly between eBay, reverb, and gbase so if you have time, you may find a good deal. Good luck!

Can't give you an answer but I can offer a hearty WELCOME TO LTG!
Stick around and answers will come from the more knowledgeable Blues 90 fans/users in the crowd.

New Year's cheer, :cheerful:

Book value is about $900 on a Blues 90, but I sold one very quickly for $1100 earlier this year. Condition is paramount, but I'd try to stay in the $1000 range as a buyer.

I have one for sale in the FS/FT section here as well as on Craigslist. I am having trouble moving mine at $950 USD, and it is in pretty good shape with only a few cosmetic flaws.

In the last year I have seen them sell for as low as $700 on Craigslist for a red one (which is one of the more common finishes) to $1300 on Elderly Instruments for a Beautiful transparent Emerald Green one. Just depends on how hard you look for one and if you don't mind waiting for a great deal to come along. I normally see at least one a month listed between Craigslist, Reverb, and Ebay. There is also a Bluesbird P90 model that looks like the Blues 90 but has Block Mother of Pearl inlays all the way up the neck as well as a bound fretboard. These models go for a little bit more and are sometimes more desired for the appearance Factor. Blues 90's were made in Westerly, R.I. in the late 90's and the Bluesbird P90 was made in Corona, California around 2003-2004. Hope this helps!

To answer your original question is hard without photos to tell the true condition. If it is missing the tone knob and the frets need some work and the finish has some play wear on it I would start around $800. That's only if it has the original or nice Hardcase with it. If it doesn't have the case I would deduct a little more from that price. This is just my opinion of course but I think that is pretty much in line with what I see in the market, Good Luck!

Thanks;

Hey everyone;

Thanks so much for the replies... I appreciate it. It would seem that the seller wants a bit too much for his Blues 90. I'll have to check and see if he'll move on the $.

Thank you all.
