I posted over the summer about a guitar I had come across that belonged to my mother in law a 1966 F-20 in sunburst. I agreed to help her sell it but it needed some repairs. Finally got it back from the luthier last week with a new bridge, some repaired bracing and a good set up. After playing it for the past week I ended up officially buying it from her. Completely in love with how well it plays and the tone. The luthier loved it so much he took all the measurements to build himself a replica. Here are some pictures including a before and after of the bridge.

Wow, looks great! Was it refinished with a more reddish burst, or was that just the result of cleaning and different lighting for the picture?

Yes, this is my question also! Looks like two different guitars!

Congratulations!

Same guitar and finish. The one picture was in bright sunlight which really makes it pop

Great story! That guitar deserved a loving owner. Congrats!

It is certainly heirloom worthy. Put together a history of it from your MIL and then from you to pass along with it. Keep it in the case!

Will do. Not a bad idea to write it down. I’ve got some of the original documentation that came with the guitar like the hang tag.
Going to look to pick up a better case. Right now it’s in a cheap chipboard case that the store threw in when she bought it. Anyone have experience using one of the Guild deluxe cases with a vintage guitar. Seems like the concert size case would fit

Love these 60's F30's. I'm surprised that original bridge couldn't be saved with the addition of a better fitting saddle. That style is nearly impossible to find for restorers.

That is an original Guild case if I'm not mistaken. The buyer had the choice of the more expensive Hard Shell Case or the Economy case.

Interesting. I’ll look later at the original documents to see if It has anything on the case. Not planning on getting rid of the case it’s currently in. Just looking for something to better protect it.

We often don't get an opportunity to pull off what you did. As you described getting the guitar back from the luthier I knew what you were going to say. Great job, AJ, and welcome to the LTG group.

Awesome F20. What was Guild thinking, the original bridge is waaayyy too thin leading to failure.

My F30 is like that also. It's a light guitar with an extremely light thin bridge plate, must be half the wood that's on any of my dreads.
