This might sound like "deja vu all over again," but just bear with me.

I wanted to restring my D4-12 last night but only had a set of D'Addario EJ17 PB Mediums on hand, so I am currently blown away by the sound of this guitar as a 6 string...wow! :D

The action on this guitar has always been low, making it very easy to play and the nut width and string spacing now make it a delightful 6 string for finger and flat picking. And let's not forget the projection from the arched back.
While I don't plan to do what I did with the F-112  , I will enjoy this set-up for a while.

Thanks for stopping by and now, back to your regular programming,
Joe

I bet you've got BIG hands.
Do you think those unused bridge pins have any effect on the tone?

Only the plain white one. Add one more with the black dot and you'll be fine.

I'll be trying something similiar with my JF30-12 though not sure if I should just temporarily only put on the low strings of the 12 string set (12-54s) or put on the heavier EJ17s (13-56s).

Any additional rattles from the tuners etc in the guitar without the unused strings?

Crazy world, ain't it?
This D4-12 makes a beast of a 6-string. It's very....loud!
