Hi DM: I would send it back, just because I'm that finicky. I thought I posted this but nmaybe it was on a different thread. If I was in the market for a used Guild that I couldn't play first, the ONLY place I'd look is right here. After you've hung around for a while you'll understand that everybody here loves the brand so much that they want to be sure the next owner knows exactly what he's getting. We've seen guys join who are just out to make a killing selling a guitar they know/care nothing about, only to find out this is the most knowledgable group of folks ON THE PLANET about Guilds. Then they're off to EBAY, see where I'm going with this? Most (Eek)bay sellers are just out to make a buck. Members here who need to sell a guitar usually go to Ebay as a last resort, AFTER they make sure to let folks here know what's up. Members here are more llikely to get first pass at some cherry items....See what I mean?dmw said:So am I hearing that I should spend the $$ to fix it up because then I will have a solid guitar with no issues? Or should I send it back and look for a local arch-back D25 that I can actually play before I buy? Decisions, decisions. Your thoughts are much appreciated.
All-hog flatbacks are a little more rare than archbacks.
Bluesypicky and I have a running humorous debate about flat vs arched. You should try to find an archback to compare. Other archback models are D4s, and D15s, but D25's after '75 up through 2001 for sure are going to be Westerly archbacks and are probably the most common ones..There's a LOT to be said for being able to play an axe before you buy, and you now have a whole new set of things to watch out for.
IN any case, best wishes, and good luck!
