My ignorant understanding is that a ferrule has threads that protrude on the front of the headstock, so that nuts can be turned down onto them to hold modern style tuners in place. Bushings just press in. The tuners are held on the headstock by the mounting screws on the back. But hey, a little bit of knowledge...Bushings/ferrules...whatever. Maybe there's some dif, but I thought the terms were synonymous.
